Introduced at Geneva in 1985, the Turbo R continued the modern 'Blower Bentley' theme, but with the added refinement of suspension better suited to the car's increased performance. Outwardly the R differed from the preceding Mulsanne Turbo by virtue of its cast-alloy wheels shod with low-profile Pirelli tyres, while inside there was a revised fascia with rev-counter included amongst the comprehensive instrumentation. In a break with Rolls-Royce tradition, power figures were made public for the first time, revealing that the engine produced 320bhp and a staggering 475lb/ft of torque, which on the road translated into a 0-60mph time of around 7 seconds and a top speed of 143mph. Described by Autocar magazine as 'an outrageous concoction of sledgehammer performance and sybaritic luxury', the Turbo R remains as formidable now as when it debuted more than 20 years ago. This particular left hand-drive Turbo R was Delivered new 23rd March 1988 in France to its first owner who kept it until September 2002. It has been in the vendor's possession since July 2003. Beautifully finished in Royal Blue with light blue Everflex roof and light blue leather upholstery, the car is equipped with two special and rare options: the chromed grill and full-length, wood veneer, door trim panels. This car circulated regularly between Neuilly-sur-Seine, Saint-Tropez and Monaco, where it resides today. Always maintained by Bentley in Paris or Monaco, this car has received new rear suspension spheres and pipes, a new viscous coupling for the cooling fan, and a new battery.
