Lot 35: MG TA Competition
This well known original 'Team Rosbif' racing T-Type has enjoyed a successful racing career from the early sixties, first campaigned in national MG events and then raced extensively throughout the UK and Europe with its current long term owner. The car has raced at Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Goodwood, Brooklands, Donington, Castle Combe, Alton Park and Cadwell Park. European races include the 6 Hours Spa Francorchamps , Vintage Montlhery, Dijon Prenois, Circuit Des Remparts at Angouleme, Puy Notre Dam, Zolder and Luxembourg Grand Prix. This highly developed TA is powered by a 1500cc Supercharged X-Pag engine with a big valve unleaded head and Oil Cooler. Further engine modifications include Crane Cam forged pistons, special conrods, lightened and balanced. The gearbox is a TC Close ratio unit with an Alloy flywheel and AP racing Clutch, Balanced Propshaft with a 4.2 differential currently fitted. Special EN40 half shafts are also fitted with the car running 15'' wheels shod in Dunlop Racing rubber. The Brakes and Suspension are competition specification. The history file includes UK V5 registration, various racing related literature and photographs and FIA paperwork dated 19/6/1991. This exciting pre war racing MG offers buyers a chance to own real racing history and a competitive car for a very realistic price. Indeed the cost of building a car to this specification today would well exceed the price of GSK 703 and nor would it have the racing history! A close friend of the vendor informed us that he had seen the car race at an Aston Martin meeting in the 1990's and it surprised a number of bigger cars on the track that day!!
