Lot 025: BMW 728i
The flagship saloon of the BMW range, the 7-Series was launched in 1977 and has gone through five generations to date. The car you see here is a third generation E38 model, available from 1995 to 2001. It is powered by a creamy smooth straight-six 2.8-litre engine that produces 193bhp and, in five-speed automatic form, can propel the car to 60mph in under 10 seconds on its way to a top speed of 140mph.
First registered in September 1999, this 7-Series has clearly led a very cosseted life and it is hard to believe that it is now 12 years old and has covered some 155,000 miles. In superb condition throughout, it has 10 services to 152,661 miles.
Costing 39,710 when new, it is packed with every conceivable option including: factory fitted sat nav, TV, radio CD multi changer, electric front seats, distance park control, radio controlled clock, burr walnut trim, servotronic steering as well as M spec 18 alloy wheels and an M steering wheel. Finished in Biarritz blue with cream leather it has perhaps the ultimate specification.
MOT'd until June 2012, a new replacement petrol tank has recently been fitted and it is said to drive very well. It is only being sold because the owner has too many cars and is consequently downsizing his collection. Altogether a huge amount of car for a very small amount of money!
