Lot 050: Jaguar XK8 Coupe

Classic & Vintage Cars & Motorcycles, Brightwells Auctioneers and Valuers (13 July 2011)

Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1996, the new Jaguar XK8 Coupe was the replacement for the venerable XJS which had in turn supplanted the E-Type. Designed by Geoff Lawson, who had also penned the stunning XJ220, it shared its platform with the Aston Martin DB7 to which it bore a more than passing resemblance. The first Jaguar ever with an eight-cylinder engine, it's 4-litre V8 produced 290bhp and could waft the car to an electronically limited 155mph top speed. This smart example has had two former keepers and has covered some 93,000 miles. It has a Jaguar service history to 70,000 miles, and there are further invoices on file showing additional maintenance. Having covered relatively few miles over the last 4 years, it is MOTd until March 2012 and the trip computer shows that its current owner has achieved 27mpg over the term of his ownership. He reports that everything works as it should and that it drives superbly. A fabulous luxury GT for less than the price of a cheap hatchback!
