Lot 206: Ariel Trials Combination

Classic & Vintage Cars & Motorcycles, Brightwells Auctioneers and Valuers (13 July 2011)

This Ariel Trials Special was built and used by well-known sidecar rider Adrian Moss of Stroud in the 1980s. It has a one-off frame and a 500cc alloy competition engine. The current vendor acquired the bike about two years ago and has since fully restored it with bills for parts alone amounting to some 3,000. The attention to detail is meticulous and stainless steel nuts and bolts have been used throughout. The ultra-lightweight sidecar is custom-made and the whole bike looks most effective. The top end of the engine was rebuilt but the bottom end was examined and found to be in good order. The bike has done no miles since the restoration was complted and would benefit from a period of running in and fettling before being used in anger.
