Lot 207: Velocette Valiant
Launched in 1957, the Velocette Valiant featured a 192cc OHV four-stroke parallel twin boxer engine with twin carbs. Shaft driven and with a four-speed gearbox and a duplex frame, it was expensive to make and never sold in very great numbers so not many are seen today.
This bike was supplied new to its first owner by the Fron Purslow dealership in Market Drayton in August 1957. He was to keep the bike right up until 2005. Since then the bike has only had two further local keepers and is in highly original condition throughout. Last MOTd in 2006 but said to be in good running order, it comes with various old MOTs back to 1979 showing very limited use, various bills for routine maintenance and an owner's handbook. The indicated mileage of 25,537 is believed to be genuine. Dog lovers will also appreciate the nice transferable number plate.
