Lot 117: Bentley Turbo R

Classic, Collectors and Historic Motor Cars, Barons (25 July 2011)

The Turbo R was another step in the progression towards a more sporting image for the Bentley marque and the realisation that the sporting heritage of Bentley had been ignored by Rolls-Royce for too long. With its turbocharged 6.7 litre V8 engine, tuned suspension and uprated brakes, the Turbo R could provide the luxury and finesse usually associated with a Bentley but the model also had a sporting side, which became evident when one depressed the throttle with a little more urgency. When pushed, the Turbo R could waft its occupants to 60mph in 6.3 seconds and storm to a top speed of 135mph. Finished in blue with a white leather interior this example has covered a recorded 81,989 at the time of cataloguing. The car comes with a good service history up to 65,000 miles and it is MOTd until the 10th September 2011 and taxed to the end of November.
