Lot 116: Bentley Turbo R

British Heritage + Classic & Collectors Cars, Barons (20 September 2011)

The Turbo R was another step in the progression towards a more sporting image for the Marque and the realisation that the sporting heritage of Bentley had been ignored by Rolls Royce for too long.

With its turbocharged 6.7 litre V8 engine, tuned suspension and uprated brakes, the Turbo R could provide the luxury and finesse usually associated with a Bentley but the model also had a sporting side, which became evident when one depressed the throttle with a little more urgency, the Turbo R could waft it's occupants to 60mph in a staggering 6.3 seconds and top 135mph.

Described as 'a very quick, good driving car the Bentley is in generally very good condition for its age and mileage with good body and rare metallic black paint work plus contrasting good condition silver/grey leather piped with black.'

The car comes with a good history folder containing a good selection of invoices and related documentation, many from Jack Barclay Ltd, including several old MOT certificates which help substantiate the recorded mileage of 132,000. The vendor states that a new fuel pump has recently been fitted and the car is MOT tested to May 2012.
