Lot 115: Bentley Turbo R

Classic, Collectors, Sports and Prestige Cars, Barons (27 February 2012)

The Turbo R was another step in the progression towards a more sporting image for the Bentley Marque and the realisation that the sporting heritage of Bentley had been ignored by Rolls Royce for too long. With its turbo charged 6.7 litre V8 engine, tuned suspension and uprated brakes, the Turbo R could provide the luxury and finesse usually associated with a Bentley but the model also had a sporting side, which became evident when one depressed the throttle with a little more urgency. The Turbo R could waft it's occupants to 60mph in 6.3 seconds and top 135mph. Importantly, this example is offered complete with an excellent history file, with 18 service stamps in support of the 97, 000 warranted miles and main dealer until supplied to the last owner in 2005 by reputed (ex- main dealer) and now R-R and Bentley specialist, Gallimore Motors, who have serviced it since. The car was last serviced in August 2011. The Vendor advises that bodywork, interior and engine compartment are absolutely stunning and that the car looks very impressive with valuable, later alloy wheels and a special duo tone (magnolia with ebony inserts) hide interior, which was specified from new. These magnificent machines now offer staggering value for money.
