Lot 136: Rolls-Royce Turbo R

Annual Jaguar Heritage + Sports and Prestige Cars, Barons (28 May 2012)

The Turbo R was another step in the progression towards a more sporting image for the Marque and the realisation that the sporting heritage of Bentley had been ignored by Rolls Royce for too long. With its turbo charged 6.7 litre V8 engine, tuned suspension and uprated brakes, the Turbo R could provide the luxury and finesse usually associated with a Bentley but the model also had a sporting side, which became evident when one depressed the throttle with a little more urgency. The Turbo R could waft it's occupants to 60mph in 6.3 seconds and on to135mph There is an excellent history with this example- 18 stamps in total with main dealer and speciallist. Supplied and serviced by former Lex Mead Manchester based RR/ Bentley dealer Steven Gallimore since being sold to the last owner, a car collector and enthusiast seven years ago. Paintwork and interior said to be excellent as befitting a vehicle forming part of a collection. Valuable and attractive later wheels with good tyres all round.
