Lot 156: Mercedes-Benz E320 AMG Cabriolet
The successor to the W123, world-beating saloon was the all new W124. Completely different that the 123, the new car was straight out of the 1980's. The nose down, tail up stance was very similar to the entry level 190 but the 124 was a much bigger car. While Mercedes may have offered a Coupe version of the 123, it was never that successful and was never offered as a factory convertible. This state of affairs would be very much reversed with the 124 and the Coupe and Cabriolet became hugely successful, gaining classic status, while still in production.
Offered here is a rare and late registered version of the 124-series Cabriolet with full AMG body styling and sports chassis etc. The car also comes with a very full specification including electric navy soft top, 5-speed auto gearbox, sports chassis, climate control, cruise, electric steering column, electric heated seats with driver's lumbar support, ASR, wood/leather steering wheel, wind deflector, genuine AMG alloys, wind deflector, headlamp wash/wipe etc.
The last owner purchased the car in 2005 at 55,000 miles and the car has a full Mercedes service history with all the original books and 4 keys. Recent work on the car includes new brake discs and pads and a new windscreen.
The car drives perfectly and all the electrics on the car work including the automatic climate control and cruise. The car could benefit from some cosmetic attention to the bodywork.
