Lot 180: Jaguar XJS

Annual Jaguar Heritage + Sports and Prestige Cars, Barons (28 May 2012)

Not only is it 37 years since the XJS was launched, it is 17 years since it went out of production. During the 20 year production life of the model, it was solely responsible for carrying the sporty image of Jaguar cars. It was in production for 13 years before a convertible became available and continued to offer turbine-like, V12 performance right up to the very end. The XJS was a true GT car, which had few equals throughout most of its life but by the time the XJ8 replaced it, in 1995, it was a bit long in the tooth. Offered here is a 1990 mode of the 5.3 litre HE Coupe, which is said to have covered just 69000 warranted miles from new, with history and MoT certificates in support. The service history shows 11 services between 1990 and 2006 and also documents a speedo head change at 23088 miles. Finished in sage green with contrasting leather, the car is equipped with the usual XJS options, plus a set of very expensive Lister alloy road wheels and is offered complete with the original service booklet, owners manual and parts manual.
