Lot 199: Ford Granada Scorpio

Annual Jaguar Heritage + Sports and Prestige Cars, Barons (28 May 2012)

Unlike the original Granada, the it was initially only available as a hatchback, and not as a saloon or estate. This proved to be a mistake for Ford, which later introduced a saloon version in 1990, and the estate appeared two years later. There were few engineering changes over the years, notably the introduction of the DOHC engines in 1989, and the Scorpio Cosworth with a 2.9 L 24-valve Cosworth V6 the following year. The Cosworth Engine has become a choice upgrade for many Ford Sierra owners with many Granada's being broken up to provide these power plants, it became a cheap and easy way to obtain 200+ BHP. Some of these engines have also been turbocharged and versions of the engine (FBE) were also used in motorsport. The example offered here is from the final year of production and is one of the range topping Scorpio 2.9 24V Cosworth engined cars. The reason it is sitting in the classic car auction is the simple fact that it has covered a mere 21,000 miles (twenty one thousand) from new. Originally supplied by Targets Ford of Eastbourne, the car remained with the original owner until his death, at which time it was placed into storage. In 2010, the car was then sold on, when it had covered just 19200 miles. Since that time the car has covered another 2000 miles and is now showing 21,500. Said to be in Time Warp condition, the car has the full options available, which include full leather, auto box, stacking CD player etc. The file contains service receipts. previous MoT certificates and a VOSA mileage print out. Has to be unique and a must for the Ford collector. Note: This description is provided by the vendor and unless otherwise stated is 'Not Verified' by Barons or any person employed by Barons.
