Lot 185: Aston Martin V8 Vantage

Fine Motor cars incl. The Jaguar Legend, Coys (14 July 2012)

Following the unveiling of the AMV8 Vantage concept car in 2003, the production V8 Vantage was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005 for the 2006 model year. The two-seat, two-door coup had a bonded aluminium structure for strength and lightness.

The V8 Vantage is powered by a 4.3 litre quad-cam 32-valve V8 which produced 380 hp at 7,300 rpm and 302 lb/ft torque at 5,000 rpm. The engine was front mid-mounted with a rear-mounted transaxle, giving a 49/51 front/rear weight distribution. Slotted Brembo brakes were also standard and the V8 Vantage could accelerate to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, topping out at 175 mph.

In their 2006 readership survey, readers of Car Design News voted the Aston Martin V8 Vantage best current production car design; the Vantage was also voted one of Automobile magazine's 2007 All Stars for its performance, road manners, and design. The V8 Vantage is also one of the only two cars to be added to The DB9 section, a fridge reserved for the super-cool on the BBC's Top Gear. Rolling off the production line in 2007 and first registered in March of that year, this example has seen regular service, despite having covered only 7,643 miles from new. The car is supplied with a comprehensive service history with a 1,000 miles service carried out in May 2007 at Aston Martin main dealer Lancaster, a second service in January 2009 with Lancaster at 5,766 miles, a third service at the Chiltern Aston centre in October 2010 with 7,001 miles and its last service was completed in March 2012 with 7,600 miles recorded. Also in the history file is a V5 document, current MoT certificate valid until May 2013, handbook and the aforementioned service history.

Perfectly proportioned and one of the prettiest motor cars produced in some time and backed up with an ear-splitting exhaust note, this fine example is finished in black with a black interior, including deep leather seats and a smart instrument cluster.
