Lot 23: Velocette Vogue

Classics Cars, Charterhouse (15 July 2012)

The Vogue is one of Velocette's rarer motorcycles, with only 381 having been made. Launched in 1963 incorporating the LE MKIII engine with a new frame, distinctive enveloping bodywork, with a twin headlight fairing housing the instruments. This example was sold new via Hurhams Motorcycles Ltd, Parkstone, Dorset to its first registered keeper, a Mr J F Martin of Swanage, Dorset. In the current ownership since 2009 it has formed part of a large private collection of lightweight motorcycles. In restored condition the motorcycle has received a lot of recent attention, including a rebore and new pistons with exchange crank by Alf Snell, new carburettor, new clutch, electronic ignition, new coils, a partially re-wired loom, relined brakes, rebuilt rear wheel with new rim and spokes, a new front tyre and a body off respray. All of this work has been carried out within the last 700 miles. The vendor informs us that the motorcycle is now running very well, and with a general check over should acquire an new MOT, to once again take to the road or be ready for the show circuit. RF60, V5C, no current MOT, currently on SORN
