Lot 24: Velocette LE

Classics Cars, Charterhouse (15 July 2012)

Launched in 1948 at the Earls Court Show as the 'motorcycle for everyman', it was powered by a 149 cc water cooled engine, which would have an increase in capacity to 192 cc from 1950, and incorporated an enveloping body, incorporating running boards & leg shields. The LE would find favour with numerous police constabularies, remaining in service until 1971. This restored LE had formed part of a large collection of lightweight motorcycles. It has seen little use in recent years, apart from attending local classic motorcycle shows. The vendor informs us that the motorcycle is running well, but will require the usual safety checks before obtaining an MOT. V5C, no current MOT, currently on SORN
