Lot 25: Triumph Stag

Classics Cars, Charterhouse (15 July 2012)

The Giovanni Michelotti designed Stag was Triumph's answer to the Mercedes-Benz SL. Manufactured between 1970 and 1978, they were technically advanced for their time with independent all-round suspension, an innovative and visually striking T bar roof, which aided strength, rigidity and safety, and the all new small block 3 litre V8 engine. This particular low mileage Stag has covered only a believed 62,000 miles from new in the hands of its four registered keepers, and comes direct from the deceased estate of the fourth owner. The first keeper was Oliver & Bleasby Ltd, London NW7. There were two further keepers before the deceased purchased the Stag in 1994. Always meticulously maintained by the last and previous owners, there are numerous receipts and records recording work carried out including the original passport to service, and a change to a manual overdrive gearbox from the original automatic in 1984. Further sensible upgrades for modern motoring include electronic ignition, a stainless steel exhaust system, immobiliser and a Kenlowe electric fan. During the last ownership the car was exhibited at numerous classic car shows in the south west region where it was always admired. RGH 842L was last taxed for the road in 2009. With Stags becoming evermore popular, this low mileage and well fettled example deserves a new caring home. V5C, MOT to June 2013, no current tax
