Lot 45: Vauxhall Wyvern EIX

Classics Cars, Charterhouse (15 July 2012)

The Vauxhall Wyvern was Vauxhall's first post WWII model incorporating the pre WWII Vauxhall 12 running gear. It would remain in production until 1951, when the completely new Wyvern EXI was introduced. Radically restyled with an all new monocoque four door body, which was certainly influenced by our American cousins, it would remain in production with subtle face lifts and increased engine size (1507 cc) until 1957, when it would be succeeded by the new Victor. 728 UXF has been the subject of a full restoration by its Vauxhall Wyvern owners' club member owner. During the restoration, the body was stripped and resprayed in a rather fetching metallic gun metal grey. The chrome work was rechromed at a cost of approx. 1000. The interior has been retrimmed in maroon vinyl, with new carpets and headlining fitted. The engine has been rebuilt, a new clutch and rear shock absorbers were fitted, plus numerous other items associated with a comprehensive restoration. Since the completion of the restoration 728 USF has been shown at numerous classic car events in the South-West region, where the vendor informs us that it has always been admired. Accompanying the vehicle, is a large quantity of spares, amassed by the owner during the restoration and which it is hoped will aid the new owner to run the car in the future. These include an engine and gearbox, all glass windows, a petrol tank, a radiator, door furniture and other scarce parts. This now rare and well restored Wyvern now awaits a new owner to further enjoy all of the hard work which has gone into restoring this car to a show standard. V5C, MOT to February 2013, ***tax to March 2013 (not February)
