Lot 47: Land Rover Series II SWB

Classics Cars, Charterhouse (15 July 2012)

This early 1959 Series II Landy is fitted with the desirable full safari cab. It has been the subject to a careful and sympathetic restoration with a body off nut and bolt rebuild taking place in 2006, since the restoration was completed the Land Rover has covered less than 500 miles. The vendor informs us that it is a highly reliable vehicle and has passed all six MOT's since the restoration, receiving only one minor advisory notice two years ago. The original engine was rebuilt by the previous owner, including a full cylinder re-bore with new pistons and was fitted with the improved Weber carburettor. The original running gear has been restored with new bearings, bushes, joints and seals as necessary and placed on an all new galvanized chassis. All the brake cylinders have been renewed including the clutch cylinder and a new radiator has been fitted. The interior has been upgraded with Exmoor Trim fabric seats and two bench seats in the rear compartment. It has the original optional Smiths two speed heater fitted which works well for those cold winter mornings. The body has been kept as original as possible and comes with its original green paint, which can be easily re-sprayed or retained to maximize its authenticity. It has a tow bar and electrics fitted and a rear galvanized step. With a fresh MOT and being a tax exempt vehicle this Landy is now ready to take to the road or green lanes in the coming summer months. V5C, MOT to June 2013, tax exempt
