Lot 55: MG B GT

Classics Cars, Charterhouse (15 July 2012)

The ever popular MG B, a firm favourite with the classic car scene, was launched in 1962 in a roadster form, with a GT version arriving in 1965. The GT version was dubbed the poor mans Aston Martin by the British Press, and one can see why when the two cars are seen in profile. This GT has been in the current MG Enthusiasts ownership since 1998. The subject of an older bare metal restoration, with photographic evidence of the restoration in progress. The vendor now feels that the body could benefit from some cosmetic refurbishment, mainly to the bottoms of the doors. The interior was re- trimmed in black vinyl and is still very smart. Recent expenditure includes fitting of a new battery (single 12 volt), new carburettors and a general check over to obtain a new MOT. The large history file contains numerous receipts, past MOTs, a photograph album of the restoration, MG owners club magazines and spares catalogue. This well maintained example is now only for sale due to recent lack of use and the vendor now feels it is time to pass the MG on to a new enthusiast owner. V5C, MOT to May 2013, currently on SORN
