Lot 106: BMW 635CSiA

Classic, Collectors, Sports and Prestige Cars, Barons (16 July 2012)

BMW added a new coupe model to its range in 1976, the 6-Series. The 6-Series initially comprised of just one model powered 3210cc but this was expanded to the 3.5 and the lower capacity 2.8. The model was offered with a range of transmission options from (originally) a 3- speed automatic, 5 speed overdrive manual and 5 speed dog-leg manual with a one to one 5th gear. Post 1984 the automatic was uprated to a 4-speed with a sports option. You could also buy the 635M, which sported the 275bhp, double over head cam M1 engine. The elegant and purposeful body for the 6-Series was unique although the chassis platform provided the basis for the 5-Series launched in 1977. By the time production ceased in 1989, withe the limited edition Hi Line models, the 635 was already gaining favour with classic enthusiasts. Offered here is a very nice example of a 1986 635CSiA, which has the 3.5 litre straight six and 4-speed automatic transmission. Finished in gleaming white with navy leather Recaro interior, the car is offered complete with the original service booklet with 20 service stamps, the original handbook and a BMW service print-out. It has been in the current ownership since 2004 and is said to have been cherished and well maintained by this and previous owners. The 635 is on the way up in value and examples in this condition are now hard to find.
