Lot 107: Jaguar MKII 2.4 Sports Saloon

Classic, Collectors, Sports and Prestige Cars, Barons (16 July 2012)

It is hard to believe that over 50 years have passed since the launch of the Jaguar MKII. It is even more remarkable to note that demand for this Iconic classic remains undiminished, with specialists offering modernised versions for 50,000+ and restored, unmodified cars, still achieving high values. The styling of the MKII is timeless, the performance is more than adequate and ownership is made simple via a huge spares and specialist repair network. The MKII came in three guises, with 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8 XK engines. While the 3.8 was the choice of the real sporting driver and the 3.4 an excellent performer in its own right, the 2.4 was an excellent cruiser and now, as a classic styling icon, it offers all the show, with just a little less go but it is more than adequate and keeps up with modern traffic easily. Offered here is a 1967 2.4, manual + overdrive MKII, which has benefited structural and cosmetic restoration both externally and internally. The Carmen red paintwork is excellent and the red leather is also very clean. New carpets and headlining round off the interior and the whole package is finished off with a set of chrome wire wheels.
