Lot 140: Alpina B10 3.3 Touring - Switcht

Classic, Collectors, Sports and Prestige Cars, Barons (16 July 2012)

Since the late 1970's Alpina has been recognized by TÜV as an automobile manufacturer, thus Alpina-built cars are branded and registered as Alpina instead of BMW, although an Alpina can be bought and serviced at local BMW dealerships, and covered if there is a warranty issue. Distinctive features of Alpina vehicles are 20 spoke alloy wheels, "Alpina Blue" patented metallic paint, in addition to expensive interior materials used to fabricate the exclusive interior appointments. A typical blue and green pattern (same as in the logo) is often used on interior parts such as stitching on leather and different fabrics used in the upholstery. A thin, almost pinstripe like outside body decor set in gold or silver is also a trademark of Alpina cars. A metal plate inside also proves the heritage and the serial number of the car. Offered here is an example of the B10 3.3 Touring with "Switchtronic" transmission and just 23,000 miles from new. Already a rare vehicle (one of only 19 B10 3.3 Touring ever registered in the UK and one of only 7 face-lifted examples), this one must be quite unique with a mileage of only 23,397 miles and only 1 previous owner before the vendor. While few 10 year old cars can be said to be perfect, this one is really in very good condition. There are one or two stone-chips and minor marks on the exterior the worst is a scratch on the corner of the front bumper which has been touched in and 2 very small pin dents, overall this car looks stunning. Inside is a similar story. There are a few very minor marks on the leather here and there but again nothing that couldn't be sorted with little effort. There is barely any wear on the driver's side bolster as you would expect with such a low mileage. The 10-speaker Hi-Fi sounds great, even with my iPod playing through a cassette deck adaptor! There's a 6-CD auto changer in the boot which I assume is working but have never used. The car comes with the stamped service booklet, standard 5-Series handbook, supplementary Alpina handbook, 2 keys, 1 alloy wheel lock key, wheel lock cap tool, Alpina leather key-ring, and Alpina leather document wallet. I also have a copy of the original build sheet & brochure. There is also an Autocheck report which was conducted before purchasing the car and a print-out of the MOT history which also help to verify the mileage. The current MOT expires in March 2013 it passed last time with one advisory for worn hand brake pads which I have not yet replaced as the hand brake still works fine. It is taxed until 31st August 2012. Of course it qualifies for the lower tax band of £270 a year (at next renewal), due to Alpina being classified as a low volume manufacturer. Finally, as you can see, the vendor has fitted the cherished registration B10 TOU (as in TOUring!) to the car which adds to the whole package of this rare vehicle. With very low mileage, in outstanding condition and with comprehensive history, this rare Alpina B10 offers outstanding value for money.
