Lot 142: Jaguar Sport XJRS

Classic, Collectors, Sports and Prestige Cars, Barons (16 July 2012)

From 1988, a special XJR-S version of the XJS V12 5.3-litre was produced by Jaguar-Sport, a separate company owned 50:50 by Jaguar and TWR. This car had a distinctive body kit, Speedline alloy wheels, plus suspension and handling improvements. The first 100 of these cars were termed "Celebration Le Mans" to commemorate Jaguar's 1988 win at Le Mans. Cars built in 1988 and 1989 (just 350) were produced with the 5.3-litre engine. After September 1989 they were equipped with a special, Jaguar-Sport, 6.0-litre engine with a Zytec engine management system, which produced 314 bhp or 329 bhp in later cars. This was a different engine from the standard 6.0-litre engine used in the later XJS models. The XJR-S remained available until 1993, with a total of 1,130 cars being built. Offered here is a 1990 example of the 6.0 XJRS, which has been dry stored for many years, covering just 1000 miles over the past 10 years. It is offered with a small history file and MoT certificates dating back to 2003, plus a new MoT dating from May 2012. Finished in Solent blue with cream hide, piped blue, the car is offered in good, sound, usable condition and is complete with tax through to November 2012 and an MoT through to May 2013.
