Lot 033: TVR Chimaera
At a featherweight 1,060kgs, the TVR Chimaera derived its performance from more than just brute force, although with up to 285bhp on tap it had plenty of that too. Based on a contemporary Griffith chassis with a slightly more spacious body designed with more comfortable touring in mind, it was replaced by the rather extreme and less popular Tamora. It was pure TVR and used a TVR power version of the Rover V8 with 4.0, 4.5 or 5.0-lite alternatives.
Purchased new in 1996 from the TVR centre in Redhill, this prime 4.0-litre Metallic Silver example with Navy leather and hood has a full stack of service stamps running from new right through to the present day. The previous owner fitted a new rear hood section and replacement veneer dashboard, the vendor purchasing the car some 5 years ago. Having now covered just 45,850 miles, he has recently fitted two new tyres and TVR threshhold plates and it will be sold with a spare set of keys, battery conditioner and "Car Pajamas" car cover. MOTd until March 2013, this super example has a particularly attractive colour/trim combination as well as a full history confirming its low mileage and is described by the vendor as "tip-top". What more can we say?
