Lot 059: MG C Roadster

Classic & Vintage Cars & Motorcycles, Brightwells Auctioneers and Valuers (18 July 2012)

We are indebted to the vendor for the following description: First sold by University Motors in 1968, I bought this MGC in 2000 from her last owner. She had been rebuilt around 1986 to a high standard by Brown and Gammons for a previous owner. After buying the car in 2000, the following work was completed: " Conversion to unleaded fuel. " Rebuild of cylinder head including new valve springs, valves, valve guides, and reseating, together with partial gas flowing. " Electronic, Lumenition Optronic ignition fitted. " High ratio steering rack fitted. " 4 new wheel hubs and bearings fitted. " 5 new alloy wheels and tyres fitted (spare still unused). In 2009 a professional bare metal respray in the original Tartan Red colour, and underseal application was completed, and the following was completed on return: " Refurbishment of all engine ancillaries (heater, hydraulics, radiator, alternator etc, replacing worn parts where necessary). " GAZ front shocks fitted. " Up rated anti-roll bar fitted. " KONI rear shocks fitted. " Parabolic rear springs with poly bushes and mounting pads fitted. " Repaint of engine and all ancillaries. " Conversion to electric power steering. " Halogen sealed beam units fitted. " Addition of rear high intensity fog lamp. " LED stop and tail, reversing and rear brake light added. " Complete interior renewal of door/side trims, Red matching vinyl crash rail, cockpit rail, and rear scuttle cover, and respray of dash in black Crackle paint. " New interior carpets. " New later version MGB seats with headrests covered in leather facings, and vinyl rears. " New later version MGB type hood frame, with black Mohair covering and integral glass rear heated screen. " Re-chroming of original equipment front and rear bumpers, and over riders. " New front and rear number plates. " New Sony face-off radio/CD player, with audio in facility, electric aerial and remote control. " The car has a stainless steel exhaust, K & N filters, and runs on wire splined hubs. There is a battery cut off switch, and security locks fitted. The body chassis interior is Waxoyled and the car has been used all year round. Since the engine rebuild in 2000, she has covered approx 29k miles, and is currently showing 123k miles. Since 2009 she has covered less than 10k miles. I have MOTs from 1991 to date. Currently there is 12 months (free) road tax, and a valid MOT. She drives superbly and I will be very sad to see her go.
