Lot 205: Francis Barnett Falcon 87

Classic & Vintage Cars & Motorcycles, Brightwells Auctioneers and Valuers (18 July 2012)

Francis and Barnett of Coventry began motorcycle manufacture shortly after the First World War producing JAP-engined motorcycles and, from 1923, Villiers-engined machinery with their famous built like a bridge frames. Motorcycle manufacture ceased in 1940 with the advent of World War Two, but after hostilities ended they were soon back in business producing lightweight roadsters with 2-stroke engines. They became part of the AMC conglomerate in the 1950s and produced their own AMC engines that they shared with James. XSV 907 is a 1961 Falcon model powered by the 20T 199cc 2-stroke engine. It has been unused since the previous owner's health deteriorated in 2000, but with a change of battery and some fresh fuel it immediately fired up and runs well. It comes with current V5C and just needs some use after its long rest!
