Lot 092: MG B Roadster

Classic & Vintage Cars & Motorcycles, Brightwells Auctioneers and Valuers (26 September 2012)

This MGB Roadster was first registered in May 1969 and, as the history file confirms, was maintained in excellent condition throughout its life (insurance valuations from the early 2000s consistently valued it at 7,500 and it looks very smart in the photos supplied at that time). However, it underwent something of a transformation shortly thereafter. Between 2006 and 2008 the previous owner had the car fully prepared for historic rallying by Summit Motors of Maidenhead. The complete specification is too detailed to list in full but includes: lightweight Sebring GRP bonnet, boot lid, and front and rear valance; race spec engine bored out to 2-litres; rebuilt overdrive gearbox; 13 row oil cooler; uprated cooling fan; Lumenition ignition; hi-torque starter motor; rev limiter with launch control; Spax adjustable suspension; stainless steel sports exhaust and manifold; Minilite-style alloy wheels; competition seats and harnesses; fire extinguisher; roll bar; map light and Brantz trip meter. Since the work was completed the car has covered some 12,000 miles and has taken part in various sprints and road rallies. It comes with a large file of bills and is MOTd until January 2013 and taxed until next May. On the button and ready to go, it should give a great deal of fun to its lucky new owner and, who knows, may even bring home some trophies!
