Lot 53: Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine
The stretched version was constructed on a monstrous 3,658mm wheelbase, which made for an overall length of slightly over 6.1 metres. Previously registered in the UK, this imposing Fleetwood limousine was purchased new by the Al Fayed family, formerly owners of Harrods, and was in their ownership or control until 2012. The VIN number indicates that it was built in Detroit and fitted with the 425ci (7.0-litre) V8 engine. Originally used in France, the Cadillac was first registered in the UK in 1994 when it was used by Harrods Aviation to transfer passengers from the airport terminal to their private jets, hence the low mileage of 6,500. The current vendor purchased the Cadillac from Bonhams' sale at the RAF Museum, Hendon in April 2012. Since then the car has been re-commissioned, including a full service with all oils, fluids and filters changed, greasing, etc and many details sorted (corner-lights, indicators, heating, etc). Now the car is ready to be enjoyed for family picnics or a long-distance holiday cruise with one's friends.
