Lot 131: Ford Prefect/Anglia 100E

Classic - Collectors and Sports Cars, Barons (28 October 2013)

Following the success of the Consul/Zephyr Ford applied the same engineering and styling principles to its new small car range in 1953, the cars were new, but the names were familiar, Anglia and Prefect. The Anglia formed the lower end of the two car range, although a De-luxe version was soon available. Both Anglia and Prefect versions were given the Ford model code 100E. The Anglia featured an all new unitary body, with modern 'three box' styling, and made use of the patented MacPherson strut front suspension system. The car looked very modern, however it had to make do with an ancient sidevalve engine (1172cc), 3 speed transmission and the breathless vacuum operated wipers. This 1954 Anglia is said to be very sound and is offered as a 'barn find.' The vendor actually inherited the car when he bought his house, as the vendor of the house did not want the bother of moving it. Said to be complete, with a freely turning engine, the car has no paperwork but was registered KFK 104 in Worcester in 1954.
