Lot 455: Mini Clubman Estate

The Harrogate Sale, Bonhams (13 November 2013)

Owned by the same family from new, this Mini Clubman has been dry stored on blocks for the last 16 years. The photographs show the car on removal from storage; it has since been re-commissioned and will have been polished and valeted prior to sale. 'JNN 480V' was purchased by vendor's mother, Mrs J Wells, who died six months later. The car then passed to his wife, Mrs H Wells, who used it as her local runabout until 1997. It had been regularly serviced and given no trouble. The car had been fully Waxoyled in all cavities when new and the chassis double under-sealed by the supplying dealer (see original bill of sale and Protectol warranty on file). The paintwork was protected with Protectoglaze. There have been no welded repairs to the chassis, sills or floor pan, which are all original and sound. When examined for the MoT test by the vendor's local garage T J Horrocks of Selby all under-body areas were found to be corrosion free, much to their surprise. Works undertaken to re-commission the car include the following: a full overhaul of the clutch, brakes and steering gear; cleaning the fuel tank, fuel pipes and carburettor; fitting a new battery and exhaust; changing the engine oil/filter and air filter; adjusting the carburation; and a road test (see bill for 1,200 on file). MoT'd to October 2014, this exceptionally original and well-preserved Mini Clubman is offered with the aforementioned documentation, Swansea V5 and various old bills and MoTs.
