OverviewZavod Imieni Likhacheve, Moscow
The ZIL is a continuation of the ZIS series and their limousines, used by high ranking government officials, are not generally available on the open market. Therefore their limited production details are not available.
The ZIL factory is the second largest car factory in Russia and they produced a wide variety of other items such as trucks, bicycles and refrigerators.
After the name change from ZIS to ZIL in 1956, the factory commenced with the model 111 which was again influenced by Packard styling, the front treatment looking very much like the 1956 Packard.
In 1960 there was mention of a prototype ZIL that had six headlamps and a mixture of General Motors and Ford ideas, but this was presumable considered to be a bit flambouyant and the car never materialised.
