Ford Germany Taunus 1 - New Cortina
The cars grew steadily bigger, both in dimensions and engine size. The 26M followed in 1968, which was a 17M with a 2,550 cc V-6 engine of 125 bhp at 5,300 rpm. Teamwork between Dagenham and Cologne became more intensive and both factories produced large numbers of Capri and Escort models. In 1972 Ford of Britain and Ford Germany launched a joint model as the new Ford Taunus in Germany and new Cortina in Britain in which Ford had invested over £150 million. The first Granadas were luxury versions of this model.
