The Honda S600 and S800 sports cars suited smaller persons who wanted a nippy car and these were followed by the N360 and N600 which had enough space for small people. The N360 with its 354 cc engine was intended for the Japanese market while the N600 was intended to conquer the world. This did not happen because the car was really too advanced. It had a twin-cylinder air-cooled engine that gave 42 bhp at 6,600 rpm. The 81 mph (130 kph) N600 was 100 mm (4 in) longer than the N360 but both cars had the same wheelbase of 2,000 mm (78 1/4 in). The final N360 was built in 1971 and then became the Honda N III and subsequently Honda Z. The N360 was available with Hondamatic automatic transmission from its very first year.
