Standard 8HP

Standard launched its new 8HP in 1938 as its entry level saloon model. This small saloon offered simple mechanics blended with (by 1938 standards) modern styling featuring an attractive front grille. Equipment included Bendix brakes, a four speed gearbox, independent front suspension and "Easy-clean" road wheels.

During its ten year production run four body styles were offered on the 8HP comprising of two door saloon, open tourer, drophead coupe and even a small estate body. Performance was excellent for what was essentially a pre-war design. 60mph could be reached along with a respectable fuel consumption of 40mpg.
